Experience the magic of autumn at Mowdy Mustang Ranch during one of the most beautiful full moons of the year. The Harvest Moon transforms the Oklahoma prairie into a glowing landscape, creating incredible opportunities to photograph wild mustangs beneath moonlit skies.

Throughout the weekend, we’ll chase the moon from rise to set, capturing golden light as it illuminates the rolling hills, historic ranch, and free-roaming horses. While the full moon may outshine the Milky Way, it opens the door to another exciting night photography technique—star trails. You’ll learn how to create mesmerizing circular star trail images as the moon softly lights the landscape, producing dramatic nighttime scenes without complete darkness.

We’ll climb aboard ATVs and venture into the mustang fields for unforgettable sunrises and sunsets. You’ll have countless opportunities to photograph these incredible animals in their natural environment while learning techniques for composition, light, and storytelling.

This retreat is designed for photographers who want to experience a different side of night photography while enjoying the peaceful beauty of ranch life. Whether you’re creating moonlit landscapes, star trails, or intimate portraits of wild mustangs, you’ll leave with new skills, unforgettable memories, and a portfolio full of unique images.

Harvest Moon Over Mowdy is a weekend photography retreat featuring moonrise and moonset, moonlit star trails, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and ATV adventures through the mustang fields of Mowdy Ranch.

Friday
- 4 PM Check In to Mowdy Ranch
- 5 PM ATV Rides to Mustang fields to see Golden Light, Sunset, & Moonrise – Blue Hour at Rock House

Saturday
- 6:30 AM ATV Rides to Mustang fields for Sunrise and Moonset
- 9 AM Breakfast (Provided)
- 10 AM-12 PM Free Time – nap, hiking, or catch and release fishing on site

She took us to the perfect locations that she had scouted ahead of the workshop, and provided each participant personal attention to ensure everyone came home with an incredible image. The editing portion of the workshop was just as incredible as the photography. She is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor and helped each one of us at our own level to edit the images we captured in the field. Highly recommend!

I learned a lot in the field on composition and in the editing class. Brennen is a great teacher with patience and is very knowledgeable with a great personality. You can tell she loves teaching and helping people learn milky way photography. I 'm looking forward to another workshop in Oct and highly recommend Brennen to anyone interested in learning landscape or milky way photography. Her timing and instructions (verbal, written, and in person) make it easy to follow along and she leaves plenty of time for questions and problems with equipment.  I had a such a relaxing but exhaustive 3 day weekend! Up at 3:30am to catch the first rising of the Milky Way... Homemade breakfast with more food than we could eat! I learned so much from Brennen and she brought us to the most beautiful places. I can’t believe that I took some of the photos I’ve collected from this trip.
